Students will be dismissed early on Friday, December 16, 2016. There will be no school from December 17, 2016 - January 2, 2017. School will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. We hope you have a wonderful holiday break with family and friends!

Salvation Army Food Drive

We are collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army now through Monday, November 21, 2016. Collection bins are located in the main office. Let's show our Mustang Pride and show the community some support!

Parent Reading Night 10-27-16

Tonight from 5:30pm-7 pm, we are having a Parent Reading Night. There will be sessions given to help you learn different ways to help your child with reading at home. There will be a drawing for Leap Pad reading systems for those who attend.

3rd grade families: Donuts with Dad

Attention 3rd grade families: On Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 8:00 am - 8:50 am, we are hosting a special Donuts with Dad gathering. Any adult family member is welcome to join their 3rd grader, however it must be limited to one guest per child please.

McDonald's Family Dinner Night

Tonight is PTA Family Dinner Night at McDonald's on W. Market Street in Smithfield. Please join us from 5-8 pm. McDonald's will give a portion of their proceeds during this time to support our WMES PTA. #familyspiritnight @McDonalds

4th/5th grade reading night

We welcome all 4th and 5th grade families to join us on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 for reading night. From 5:30-6pm, PTA will have a $1 book sale with light snacks. From 6-7pm there will be two sessions to provide strategies to increase student reading achievement. All WMES parents that attend will be entered into a drawing for a gift card.

Duke Energy Science Night

You are invited to WMES's Duke Energy Science Night on April 12, 2016 from 5-7 pm. The science night is an opportunity for you and your child to explore science together! Hands-on activities will introduce a range of science, technology, engineering, and math topics in a way that is fun and easy to understand.

Spring 2016 Book Fair

Our Spring Scholastic book fair is approaching fast! The book fair will run from Monday, April 11, 2016 - Monday, April 18, 2016. Parent night will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4pm-7pm. Spring pictures have recently been sent home. Please return any unwanted pictures and/or picture money as soon as possible. There is no obligation to purchase.

Used Printer Cartridge Recycling

Wilson's Mills Elementary is starting a used printer cartridge recycling program. If you have any empty/used inkjet or laser printer cartridges at home that you were going to throw away, please send them in to school instead. Not only will it be safer for the environment to recycle them, but it could also earn a little bit of money to help our school.

Career Day is Coming Soon

Career Day is Wednesday, March 23, 2016. 5th graders should dress as if they were going to an interview since they will meet will several members of the community about careers. This is a great way to present a good first impression. Grades K-4 can dress as their future career. This will be a fun day as we explore our future possibilities.

K-3 Reading Night

McDonald's Family Dinner Night

Please join us at the McDonald's at the intersection of US 70/West Market St. and Wilson's Mills Road on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 5-8pm. It is a PTA Family Dinner Night. McDonald's will graciously donate 25% of all sales during this time to our school.

Spring Picture Day

Early Release Feb. 24, 2016

Please note that Wednesday, February 24, 2016 is an early release day for students. Car riders will begin dismissal at 1:45 pm and bus riders will begin at 1:55 pm.

PTA Meeting and Science Open House

There is a PTA meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 starting at 6 pm. PTA will sell refreshments on this night. The meeting will be followed by a science open house which will end at 7pm. Please visit your child's classroom to see what we have been learning. You will also have a chance to fill out the JCS Parent Survey.

White Swan Family Dinner Night
